My definition of painting is broad. In 2019 I painted fabric to create clothing that referenced the drama of drapery and the status symbol that was dress in the 18th Century. More recently I have used watercolour to depict contemporary streetwear clothing because the medium connotes decorativeness, femininity and subtlety. Streetwear mounted on canvas stretchers aims to juxtapose negative associations with these clothes, despite their omnipresence in British society, with high art.
